    Just look at the thread title, you're saying with three lanes running at pretty much the same speed you'd brake rather than pass a vehicle going slightly more slowly on the right, that would be dangerous in many situations and lead to annoyance in your fellow drivers.

    No, I'm merely trying to clarify the terminology, not telling you how I or anyone else would or should drive.

    That would be queuing traffic, where you ARE allowed to pass on the left. Most of the discussion has been around passing a lone car that is in the wrong lane.
