Alternatives to Ebico

I've had a letter yesterday saying that my electric & gas supplier Ebico has been taken over by SSE.
This looked quite straightforward until I realised that the zero standing charge has been dropped and the estimation that the cost will increase by £200.58 per year.
This works out to be a 20% rise for me as I'm a low user and I find it unacceptable that this 'extra' cost is being implemented on us thrifty low users.
Are there any other suppliers who give zero standing charge for pre pay card users?
I have rang ebico and the woman on the phone said they can give zero standing charge but you need to go on ebico / Robin Hood pre pay for 6 months (with standing charge) before you can go on the zero standing charge direct debit tarrif.
The ebico woman told me that many customers have been on the phones in uproar at the price increases.
What can we do? Where can we move to for zero standing charge on pre pay meters?

Try reading some of the many threads on the Ebico/SSE split and SSE changes - some of which you have already participated in - and understand what the situation really is, perhaps?

Does the letter you got yesterday really say "Ebico has been taken over by SSE"? If so, it looks like you are the victim of some kind of hoax as that isn't what the situation is at all.

The answers to your questions are already discussed at length in the threads.

Whilst we appreciate your problem, what is the point in starting a new thread when you have just contributed posts to two of the threads on this subject that are currently running.

I've started a new thread as I wanted a straight answer which non of the earlier threads gave.
I am not interested in the politics of ebico / SSE / Robin Hood - all I want is a fair deal similar to the now obsolete Ebico tariff. Why should I pay standing charge on my gas when in summertime I am using around 30 - 60p per week.
I have had no pre warning letter earlier in the year either, this letter yesterday is the first I've heard.
