I HAVE ALREADY ADMITTED IT WAS STUPID.

So you are telling me you never lied to buy cigarettes/alcohol/p*rn when you were younger? You never told a lie about your age when you were young? Maybe to get into a nightclub or get served at the pub?

You may think they may be on a much smaller scale but if you had been taken ill into hospital with alcohol poisoning from getting served in a corner shop through lying about your age- it really isnt that different.

    YOUNG PEOPLE MAKE MISTAKES- fact.

Mine might be on a larger scale but for gods sake, dont make me out to be some kind of one-off!
  • have you used the card since turning 18 yrs old?

that would probably have some bearing on any case to get the ccj removed.
The difference between genius and stupidity is that genius has its limits
  • Yes, I had it for a total of about 10 months or so from when it was issued to me until I went back to college from working full-time as I wanted to become a nurse and fell into arrears due to only being able to work part-time whilst there.

I know that probably doesnt help :o

Sorry are you saying you were 15 when you got the card?

Are you also saying you were still using it after going to court?

If so I think this is the bit thats going to go against you. Would be worth going to the C.A.B, as it's free and they will help without judging you.

I am a mum of a 14 yr old and know the knid of things they lie about. Wish you luck with trying to sort this out.
Thanks for any help and advice given

I have tried on MANY occasions to get a copy of my agreement that I signed on the day but they will not acknowledge me now I told them that I wasnt old enough in the first place to take the card out. They have just told me to forget what I owe and they wont contact me again- this is after ruining my credit history with a CCJ!

I'm pretty sure they have no choice but to provide you with any information they hold on your under the Data Protection Act.

Have you put your request in writing or is this based off a phone call?

Have you made any payments towards it since spending it? If so, how often?

Ah the joys of youth and the 'seemed like a good idea at the time' - We've nearly all been there! The reaction of the Company suggests that they don't really want this put to the test. As for mis-selling 'to achieve targets', this has been the cause of most of the major Financial scandals, and the sooner these crude targets are ditched, the better. I might also be able to buy something without a credit application being shoved under my nose.
Personally, I would contact the Citizens Advice Bureau, and seek professional advice. If you signed a contract as a minor, and they failed to make appropriate ID checks, I'm pretty sure that it is unenforcable, and they may well back down rather than have this properly looked at. And if they are on safe ground, well you won't have lost anything.
    Good luck.
