I have some new oak doors which I want to varnish. What is the best way to apply poly varnish. ? Foam brushes or standard brushes?

IMHO you'd be better off oiling them - far easier long term maintenance.
But a decent quality brush will be fine, more thin coats are better than less thick coats and denib between.

The doors have recommend notnusing oil0

they are probably veneered doors, in which case I was also recommended to avoid oil. I would have preferred it, and despite osmo claiming their door oil was suitable, I didn't want to risk ruining £1k worth of new doors. I went with johnstones wood stain applied by synthetic brush.0

We treated our oak veneer doors with a hardwax oil, as recommended by the manufacturers. We used Treatex matt hardwax oil but I believe Osmo make one too (Polyx IIRC).0
