Virgin Money Credit Card - Not Receiving The £25 Introductory

Has anybody had a problem with not receiving the £25 and Virgin saying you are not eligible because you did not apply through Virgin Money when in fact you did?
As an existing Virgin Money customer I was offered a credit card and providing I spent £500 on purchases within 60 days I would be credited with £25. This offer is still available. They say I am not eligible because their system says I did not apply through Virgin Money.com. Well I certainly did! I in fact clicked on the link from their own email to find out more and then applied from there. They say I must have applied through a comparison site. Well I did not!
They have dismissed my complaint.

Tracking who gets the commission / cashback etc online is a complicated business, which often seems to go wrong. Quidco, the cashback site, recommends clearing all cookies before clicking through them. If you had been to the Virgin site before through a comparison site that could have been enough for the site to get the referral fee.
If the complaint has been dismissed then you can pursue it further with the Financial Ombudsman. Personally I'd probably leave them. There are plenty other card companies out there. When you call to close the card they might credit the £25 as a goodwill gesture to get you to stay.0
