Transfer of equity

Hello everyone!

Just looking for a bit of advice really.

I split with my ex a while ago and am currently in the process of having her removed from the mortgage. I am paying all the fees for remortgaging, conveyancing etc, and have now come to the point of her signing the forms. She has come back and said it will be £350, which, to me seems ridiculous, as I had read it was in the £100-£150 mark, maximum.

Does anyone have experience of the costs for this?

Also, i have said i would pay this, based on up to £150, upon production of a receipt, which she seems reluctant to do, asking me to transfer money over first, and then she will do it. (She did this before, and sent a 'bill' for £144 which looks suspicious, but, as she had sent the papers back signed last time, i let it slide (photo link: http:// imgur dot com/a/43snn[/) I cannot post links as a new user...

Thank you all for your help!

Hi NeonRadish and welcome to the MSE forum, to me the receipt looks odd in that it isn't numbered ( http://imgur.com/a/43snn)

On the one hand, if it costs a bit extra to sever ties it may be worth paying, I can see that it is frustrating. Could you phone the solicitors and tell them you are paying the fees, so they should bill you?

    Married or partner? Divorce setlement?

I assume you mean she is not just "removed from the mortgage" but also coming off the Deeds?

Is there a financial agreement on compensation for her agreed?

What is the £350 for (I can't open your link).?

You don't want a receipt, which just confirms that someone has received money. You want to see an invoice, which shows who is billing for what services.

Is she required to obtain separate independent legal advice?

Is this the fee for that?

I wouldn't accept a redeipt like that. There is no mention of what it is for.
