Hi all. I'm ashamed to say I've not been on the forums for many years 😶
Anyway I've been sticking to some of my old ways and others have slipped. This year, however, I decided to start growing my own fruit again. My raspberries are doing great (othe than being pecked by birds), my chillies were fab (but now slowed down), mint is happy, gooseberries and blueberries are growing well but probably won't fruit until next year but my problem is my strawberries :( they are growing and ripening but cracking!! Has anyone come across this or have any suggestions please??

It's normally irregular (too much at once) watering. It's more common in very good weather, when they are able to grow fast, but don't because of water shortage, then they get a deluge, grow fast, and burst.

Should self-cure for the later cropping ones.

Ahhh ok thanks. I have to admit to only watering in long period of dry but living up here in Scotland the weather is somewhat erratic haha.
I've grown strawberries over the years and this has NEVER happened before. Couldn't work out why. I'll leave them alone and as you say they might sort themselves out for later crop.
