EON Heatwise - Exchange to E7 or E10

Hi,
We just moved to a house that, unfortunately, still has the old Heatwise meters. I set up an account with E.on, and between 1st of June and 21st of June I was on 2 electricity tariffs
As far I could understand, the Heatwise plan controlled the storage heaters and my immersion heater, while the Energy plan controls the rest of the house. So far so good. I was happy with the prices/unit and everything. However, on the 22nd my plan has been changed to E.ON Energy plan. So at the moment, I am paying a fixed price, regardless of the peak/off-peak times.
After several calls to Eon about this, I have been told that I have to change my meter, otherwise, I will pay a fixed price. I was given 2 options: Economy 7 or Economy 10.
After I read several threads here, I understand that I should have been offered only E10, as e7 may require a qualified engineer to verify my wiring. I have informed the E.ON operators that E7 might need additional attention, they put me on hold while they verified that with somebody else and was advised that both E7 and E10 will replace my Heatwise meter with no other changes to my electrical system.
At the moment, there are 2 live wires and 1 neutral going into my Heatwise meter, and the meter controls when the storage heaters will turn on or off, according to the peak/offpeak times. We have got no extra timing units for the storage heaters/immersion water heating.
My question is, now that I have to switch to either E10 or E7, would any of them switch my storage heaters on during off-peak and switch them off during peak time with no addition timing unit?
Thank you.
Regards,
Gabriel.

So from 22 June 2017 your billing will be charged at the below rates:-
Unit rates = 15.410p per kWh unit
Daily standing charge = 24.780p per day.
This excludes vat and discounts.
The switching times on the meter are now irrelevant as all your units consumed are charged a flat rate.
I do hope that this is helpful have a great day and a lovely rest of your week.
Kind regards

Heatwise is a legacy tariff as you probably are aware.
Only the legacy supplier is required to support such a legacy tariff.
I know that as numbers dwindle (you'd be surprised if you were to base that on the number of people that join MSE to ask about this and other legacy tariffs) Eon are in the process of switching some of their customers to an alternative
Any changes Eon impose as part of their rationalisation plan, must still support you. So, if for example they were to change you from a 3 rate plan to a 2 rate E10 plan, they are required to ensure it will still work for you (or assist you in making any changes necessary)
If you opt to move to a totally different plan, then it'll be down to you.0 -

Well, they decided they need to change my meter. I was happy with the initial "2 plans" until they put me on a flat rate.0 -
I assume you have 2 consumer units with the Heatwise meter feeding one and the normal meter feeding the other. An E7 or E10 meter will be just one meter with one feed going to each consumer unit. The only difference is that all electricity consumed will be at cheap rate during the specified times.0

Could you explain further please?
Are you saying the supplier removed your legacy metering and replaced it with a single rate meter???
(assuming you did not otherwise request that)
That is not what I understood was happening from the comments by the Eon reps here. I'm sure one will be along soon to ask you to contact them.
Please do keep us up to date with what then transpires as we rarely hear from users after they have been asked to contact the supplier.0 -

So this means I will have to install a timing unit for my storage heaters. Otherwise they will be on all the time. I know there are 2 types of meters. One type will just just record the energy differently while providing electicity all the time. The other type of meter will only switch on during off-peak, and switch off during peak.0 -

No. They put me on a plan where I pay a flat price no matter when I use my energy ( Peak or offpeak)0 -

Really?
So you still have the old, legacy metering yet are charged at single rate for all registries?
Whilst I know Eon say they could offer single rate to those customers on E7 meters, I was led to believe they cannot yet do that for those on legacy metering.
Oh well, I'm sure an Eon rep will be along soon, inviting you to contact them (you don't have to wait you know) and they'll get it sorted.
Do let us know the outcome, won't you
Edit: Here's a post from last month by the Eon rep about Heatwise
http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.php?p=72728232&postcount=8
It says they would have written to you prior to that to arrange the installation of a replacement meter
(I remember Eon posting on here months ago about the change)
Edit2: Here's the post saying single rate on legacy metering was not possible
http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.php?p=72728713&postcount=10
That post was only made the day before your new tariff is allegedly supposed to start :cool:0 -
After 50 min on the phone with an E-On Manager, I have been finally put on the plan I was before. Apparently, somebody changed my plan by mistake. So on this occasion, they could put me back on the initial plan as it was their fault. I will keep you updated when I get the official letter from them with their confirmation.0

Good morning Gabrielcristian,
Thank you very much for the useful information on the thread.
In all honesty, I don't think I can add anything else to the post that Malc has written (Thank you for the link footyguy)
If you do get stuck, we know some advisors don't have much experience with complex metering set ups like this. Then please do ask for the simpler metering team.
Thanks again.
