You can't go wandering around the gardens without permission, you don't live there.

Au contraire, that rather depends on who owns the other flat that shares this area! As per my previous comments.

I've only come across this thread today and I've now wasted a couple of hours when I should have been working :o

OP - I noticed you have deliberately not given the name of the errant letting agent - why? If you did, there might, just might be a chance that someone else knows them?

If you know another flat occupant and they invite you in then you have your permission. You still need permission as I said before.

If your family owns the other flat and lets it out, you still need permission from their tenant as much as you do yours.

Don't go sending any more family members on secret spy missions.

What do you mean by shared areas?

you cant photograph anywhere where tenants have exclusive use.

I mean areas which are technically/legally shared, and therefore are not used exclusively, even though in practice the other party would barely ever be using them as they are usually away... I believe I would have a full right to take photographs in those areas if I wanted to.

I have implicit permission, I even hold a spare key for the (other) flat.

But if it's shared area with other family members of yours, why do you even need to take photos of it or view it? Wouldn't they tell you if it wasn't being well kept? Indeed, wouldn't they also be responsible?

They are rarely in the country, and only use it a couple of times per year at present.

You need to tell your tenants this.

It's not the tenant's business that OP is a keyholder for family who live in the other flat, that's a perfectly OK private and sensible arrangement between OP and her family.

It seems like a long shot, but just in case: the agent is/was Bilal 'Bill' Aydin, of Aydin Letting Solutions / Aydin Stateley (sic) Properties. He supposedly dealt with a large portfolio of similar houses and apartments in London and the home counties. I hope that Google can see this in case anyone else has been similarly conned, and if they have or know of his whereabouts will they please contact me urgently!
