Its definitely not a stag beetle
Most likely a cockroach of some sort but doesn't look quite right0 -
We get a lot of stag beetles here, they are slow ponderous things that tend to freeze when startled.
My money is on cockroach.0 -
We are just coming out of stag beetle season - they are wonderful creatures. Cockroaches on the other hand .............0

My money is on cockroach.
When I first saw it it was moving at a crawl reminded me of a turtle.
Second time wasn't that it zipped off as much as it landed next to my tv desk so went under it, it moves about like a fly on a window/tv moving a few steps and stopping.
Didn't see any antenna on it either, it from pictures I have seen online is either a female stag beetle or a lesser stag as that fits my memory perfect.0 -
I got back from my trip away and no sign of it, but saw a large normal beetle in my living room, not the same one as this was smaller.0

It's just a standard black beetle, next time you catch him just throw him out the window!
Or if you prefer, wallow in your paranoia and enjoy the night terrors that it is going to creep up on you, crawl into your ear and munch your brain away.0 -
Or if you've got a compost bin put it in there and it'll eat all the flies. You know what uranium is, right? It's this thing called nuclear weapons. And other things. Like lots of things are done with uranium. Including some bad things.
