Little and often is my approach as well. Really helps with motivation when things feels really slow. I'm fully in the habit of doing an account round up every morning whilst I boil the kettle and if its still 'tidy' from the day before I reward myself by OP'd a £1! I'm at the stage of disappointment when the tidy is less than 10p, so end up doing £1.09 instead!MFW: Was: £136,000.......Now: £47,736.58......2

My next target is to see if I can persuade Music Magpie to take any of the CDs in the loft... I mean, they're up there because we never listen to them!3 -
Good luck @Viking_mfw I also have loads of CDs taking up space but I don’t have the energy to input them all for a pittance!2

Major dilemma raising its head in Vikingland at the moment. Two jobs have come up that are a sidestep out of my current career, but strongly associated with it. I wouldn't be an academic anymore, but I would be academic-adjacent. One of these jobs would mean a 20k payrise and moving cities (sadly to an equally HCOL, if not higher in house prices); the other would be a 10k payrise but crucially still in the city where we live. My husband grew up here and has lots of friends and family here. I grew up in the other city, but do not have many friends still in the area. However, the workplace in the other city has some other advantages in terms of their agenda matching more closely with mine. They are the same job, ish. I would be truly excellent at that job (oops, modesty) and I would enjoy it. But there are aspects of my current job that I would miss, and it would be hard if not impossible (certainly without moving) to return to that career if I left.

Write a pros and cons list. Apply for both jobs. See how you feel if and when you get an interview. Even if offered the role(s) - still your choice whether or not to take it. I would be more tempted by the local role as there is a lower hassle factor... as you won't need to move...Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030
