Will artificial grass attract cats less?

The one downside of living in an quiet area with old people is that the old people have a lot of cats and I have had enough. They have finally broken me.

If you were going to peak outside my window at anytime, you will see more cats than people. They don't flinch or run as you approach. In fact, one cat used to sleep on my mat in front of my house and when I left for work in the morning, I had to step over it as it would not budge even if I nudged it. Fortunately that cat died.

What ticked me over the edge today was when I went out to mow the front garden. I hate gardening as it is already but the smell of cat crap was overwhelming.I have sensors that worked well for me for a year but the effectiveness of them has seemingly stopped.

I want to get artificial grass for the front. Saves me from mowing it but I will be more happier with the cost if it attracted cats less.

Is this the case?

I don't think it is.

Speak to your neighbours. We had a problem years ago with a neighbour's cat using our newly planted area under the front window as a toilet. They came and cleared up the mess bought us a big bottle of gel cubes which you sprinkle over the area and which make it unattractive for cats. It solved the problem straight away.

Unlikely, although it will mean the cats can't dig in it. You'd also be able to hose it off with disinfectant easier though, over time that might deter the cats.

I just put down Silent Roar on our new pea shingle - now sold as fertiliser (thanks EU) but apparently an effective cat repellant....this morning there's a cat poo right in the middle of where I put the pellets.

If you do get artificial grass, sprinkle it with olbas oil. Cats hate the smell.

If they then move to your borders, then try used tea bags soaked in olbas oil.

We have artificial grass in our back garden and cats have never (fingers crossed) crapped on it, the front garden which is slate chippings and rockeries is another matter forever clearing it up.
I would go for it.
