Hello
I'm wanting to apply for a mortgage soon but have a lot of credit cards with zero balance. I have 5 credit cards.
Is it better to close these accounts to improve my chances or keep them open to improve my chance of getting a mortgage?

Start using at least a few of them.
Close others if your income doesn't support them.0
