Buyer gave wrong address: Advice pls

Hi there,

I posted an item royal mail signed for (luckily) as the buyer realised that its gone to their old address. Does anyone know what to do next? Would the item be returned to me? Also if the person at the old address signs for it then would it be classed as delivered?

Also with these postal strikes it might take over a week for the item to come back to me!

Aah just a bit stressful......any advice appreciated!

Thanks

    Hi,
I'm not up on Ebay as some on here and i'm sure they will be here soon.

But saying that I would have thought it was down to your buyer now as they should have changed their details. You might be lucky and the person at that address now is honest and say's that that person does not live there now. In that case it would come back to you.
Thanks for any help and advice given

Did the buyer pay by paypal, if so was the address listed the one you posted item out to? & has it been signed for?

If so technically then its the buyers fault for not updating the current address. I am not sure if paypal would classify item as being delivered, does anyone know?

i would say it will be seen as the seller has fulfilled their side of the bargain.
    was it recorded or special?
if its a recorede or special and they are known to be gone away it will be returned straight away(ish)
if no answer and a red card is left it 7 days for RD's and 3 weeks for SD's before being returned to sender.
    put a return address on?

im trying to keep on top of news and whats happening :o from what ive seen there is no light at the end of the tunnel in respect to the talks :(
  • Hi,

    Thanks for all the replies.

I posted it recorded so hopefully that will cover me in getting the item back and then re-sending it to the buyer at some point.

The address they listed was on paypal and ebay account so I suppose I did send it to the correct address and the buyer hadn't updated it. Hopefully it won't get to the point of a lost item and argument over returning money.

    Cheers

if completed correctly at the delivery office the tracking status should change to return to sender.
so if its refused it would normally update the same/next day however obviously with the strikes i dont know.
    have you tracked it?
