just received an email from a work friend

"Hi, are there any mechanics which could help me out a bit please? To cut a long story short, I bought a second hand car last week. It looks nice, but it's a piece of !!!!. It refuses to drive at night, it only drives in the daytime. It's a BMW 320 auto and it's rubbish. Has anyone else had this problem before? Basically, I put it into D for day mode - it drives perfectly. As soon as I put it into N for night mode - it won't move, useless. The gearbox is wonky. Suggestions please?"

I hav,nt the heart to reply to him

You forgot the R for rain mode and it goes backwards.

Tell him to advance the clock 12 hours at night, then continue in "D".

There is an actual recording of a phone call made to a BMW dealer in (I think) South Africa which plays this prank. It's completely hilarious, as the girl in customer service tries to keep the disbelief out of her voice (how can anyone be so stupid?) and then changes to amusement as she realises it is a wind-up. She ends up thanking the caller for making her day a bit better. By that point, I think the whole office was listening on speaker.

And I think R was for Race mode in this story. Seth Effrican accent: "I'm putting it in race mode and all it will do is bladdy go backwards!"

Is there a reason why BMW indicators dont work. Do they disable them when they build them

They are an option that nobody has every specified when ordering the car:rotfl:
