Part of the Furniture 500 Posts Name Dropper Combo Breaker
Mondeo mark 3 hatchback 56 plate removed the caliper to the off-side rear wound the piston back back bolted the caliper back on, pumped the pedal up to pressure, pulled the handbrake up the cable is applying the lever on the caliper but the piston is not moving to make contact with the pads to apply the brakes. The brakes work fine on the foot pedal with the piston moving as it should.
I have applied the handbrake half a dozen times to see if it's self adjusts but there is no problem with the Adjustment its just the piston doesn't move to apply with the handbrake only the foot pedal.
I'm coming to the conclusion there is a fault inside the caliper where the spring mechanism attaches to the back of it what are your views.
To note the nearside rear works perfectly fine.
