Fly control

I live in a rural farming community and the flies this year are the worst I've known. I like to keep doors and windows open so that my blind dog gets some fresh air and can come and go. So really I need advice about indoor fly control, I've got the usual things - sticky window stickers, poison window stickers, fly papers... Plus all surfaces are kept food free but it's not enough. Do those electronic bug zappers really work?

Have you tried the fine-mesh netting that you fit over open windows to keep them out?0

No but I need to keep the door open anyway and it is open plan downstairs so I thought it would be pretty pointless.0

We have these - http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/products/textiles-rugs/curtains-blinds/borghild-sheer-curtains-1-pair-white-art-00291297/ - across the door. They obviously let pets through but flies don't bother.0

Some people swear by the method of putting a shiny coin in a small plastic bag of water and hanging by the windows. Flies don't like the reflections. I use mosquito mesh.0

I bought a cheap mesh net/fly screen and it works wonders. I can see it will not last longer than one summer but keeps pretty much all flies out. Ive got magnetic one, bit flimsy to walk through but you can do it. Was very easy to install.0
