Getting life insurance after cancer

Hi - have been lurking here for some time but am not able to find an answer to my question:

Three years after receiving treatment for a cancer with a 98% cure rate (ie very good outlook) I have to pay Tesco life insurance £146 a month.
I contacted them and explained that unlike most cancers where survival is taken at 5 years, this cancer was usually "cured" if disease free at 2 years.

I received a confused letter quoting stats which made no sense and which I do not think answers my question.

How do I:

a. Get Tesco Insurance to explain how they arrive at their huge monthly figure and get them to reduce the monthly payments.

b. Find a cheaper life insurance company who look favourably on people like me

a - Tescos dont have to tell you. It's a retail product and they choose what they want to retail it for.

b - Go to an IFA and the IFA will be able to phone the underwriters to find out who offers the best terms and who is willing to accept you.

3 years after is not very long and most are going to either reject outright or impose a significant increase on premium.
