Home made tom soup using tinned toms is quick and easy for the kids, or stuffed toms ? Home made bread is a good one to - they love to knead it and can sprinkle different seeds on it ? Cheese straws, cheese scones ?
very quick unhealthy one is "sparklers" - get some bread sticks, icing sugar made up with water and 100 & 1000's, dip breadsticks in icing sugar then 100 & 1000's, dry and eat !!Sealed pot challenge 822

Why don't you make flapjacks?
Easy peasy lemon squeazy and the children love them as they can just pour everything into the saucepan and mix together. They can also choose whatever they wish to go in them.
All you need is a hob & an oven.
3oz butter melt in pan. Stir in 2oz brown sugar. Stir in 2 tablesppons of golden syrup.
Heat until it bubbles.
Stir in 6oz of porridge oats.
Then mix in whatever you fancy..........chopped up cherries, chocolate drops, mixed chopped nuts, raisens, other dried fruit etc etc.
Pat it all down into a baking tray and cook for 20 mins on gas mark 5 (or whatever). Cool, then chop up into squares.
My children love them and they are great to learn to make as a healthier alternative to chocolate bars etc for snacks."One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."
Because by then you've blown your chances. That's it."0 -
I work with 2.5 to 5 year olds and we cook every week with them. Today we made cinnamon pinwheels. Simply roll out ready made puff pastry, brush with milk (or water for lactose intolerant child) and sprinkle with a mixture of cinnamon and water. Roll up and cut into 1cm thick slices. Bake for 10 mins ish at 180 degrees. (I'm sure there is abutton to press of degrees, just can't find it!!) This can also be done with grated cheese, marmite, basically anything that can be spread and doesn't mind being cooked!
The kids also love to make their own sandwiches. We have margarine, jam, cheese (grated) and ham and let the kids make what they want. Most of them make ham and cheese suprisingly enough. It is amazing how few of them know how to spread margarine on bread though.0
