Help me choose a 3 night European break for end Oct/Nov/early Dec.

We have 3 nights/4 days. We are constrained by both time available and budget. This could be a midweek trip. The flights are cheaper.

I've had an initial look at Martin's Flightchecker and there are still lots of possibilities flying out of any of the London airports.

The two of us both like city breaks. We like a mix of culture, sight-seeing, foreign meals and shopping. We have already been to Rome this year and OH regrets not buying some shirts there. The prices weren't cheap but the range of styles and colours was huge, unlike the UK.

So could we shop similarly in Madrid?

I fancy Scandinavia as neither of us have been. So what about Copenhagen? Should we be concerned about shorter daylight hours that far north? I do like sunny weather as well.

Also considering the Christmas markets breaks, so that would be mainly Germany I suppose.

Finally, we like the convenience of using Euros.;)

Please let me have your ideas, especially if you have been somewhere nice and had a really nice time without spending megabucks!

Has no-one got any ideas for an autumn break of just a few days, using a budget airline?;)

have a look at www.skyscanner.com to find flights that suit you- its hard to do a search for you as there are so many options that meet your criteria

consider lisbon or if germany try cologne. i also recommend vienna or salzburg but when your think you may want a december break with sunny weather it is really tough!

consider the relatively high prices in scandinavia

Madrid is good for shopping but not a lot else IMO, Barca is much better if you want to go to Spain and Milan is much better for shopping.

Copenhagen is nice but is a very young place and not everyones cup of tea.
2p off is still 2p off!
  • Barcelona is very good for shopping and sights and food. Lisbon would probably be a bit cheaper, and also has plenty of shops. Vienna is interesting but not all that good for shopping and can get pretty cold in winter. Prague is beautiful and cheap, but also could get rather nippy.
