    I tend to keep a float of cash at home in case of emergencies like perhaps the debit card stopping working. Doesn't everyone keep some folding on-hand at home?

    Most people on here have many different current accounts to get the best interest rates and multiple credit cards to stooze money and get cashback. So it is extremely unlikely that they would all fail!.
