Years of Bankrupt....What happens?

I have just found I am Bankrupt,i found it online and the order date was 18th June 2004,here is the footnote.....Footnote Order suspending bankrupt’s discharge under Section 279(3) of the Insolvency Act 1986 until the fulfillment of conditions as specified in the Order made by the Court and effective from 12 October 2004......Now I did not know of this as I no longer live at the address they have,i was moved out on police whitness protection after being arrested for murder but being fitted up for it and then giving evidence to convict the killer,i have been dealing with mental health issues so don't work,i am on ESA but now want to try to get on with my life if I can, will I be allowed to and what will happen, will all my possessions be taken from me? I am worried I will have another breakdown. ....What I want to know is when I contact them will my Bankruptcy start again or can I now get on with my life and be discharged?

I'm not sure many people will be able to advise on this board to be completely honest, it's not a situation that many people will have been in.

Contact the Insolvency Service, they will be the best people to advise you.

My reply is the same as last time...

"Not as much to worry about as you might think
Call StepChage or Debtline and make an appointment with one of their free advisors. The suspension of the BR is probably only because they didn't know where to find you. I'm sure once you have been in touch - the issue will be resolved.

...and no - all your possessions definitely will not be taken away - well not unless you had a Bentley in the garage or a Picasso on the wall in the lounge?

Forum etiquette is to update your existing thread, not to post the exact same thread again.

As stated, you'll need to contact the Insolvency Service who will advise you. Nobody here can answer you as we can't say what'll happen!

You say you want to get on with your life, but if you had no idea you were still bankrupt, what difference does it make essentially?

No, they wont take your possessions. After all, any actions taken like an IPA etc would have been taken back in 2004.

    Then contact the Insolvency Service.

They can help you and advise on the next steps, we cannot, I hope that's clear enough advice.

you will receive very good advice on this forum from many people who give their time to help other.
We can only repeat what you were told last time, and if you had contacted the I.S then you would be well on the way to knowing your position.
    Good luck.
  • Just like most, not understanding mental health and if someone had depression you would tell them to pull themselves together and put a funny film on.Nosey old gossips with a lack of knowledge just like The Citizens Advice.......I came here for help through fear and Anxiety and all you do is chastise and ridicule me,you should be ashamed!
