I declared my vehicle (51 plate Peugeot 206, so not much value) SORN in Feb 2015, parked it on my drive and it has remained there ever since. I will put the battery back in and see if it starts in the next few days.

What is the best way to dispose of this vehicle and what do I need to do, re documents etc, to ensure it is disposed of correctly?

Ebay, with note that it will need trailering away.

eBay, no reserve, start at 99p, will need trailering away, declare all issues and faults honestly, let auction run its course, wait for buyer to turn up, sign v5 over to them.

What condition was it in before you SORN'd it?
Would it be likely to pass an MOT, then you can at least sell it as running which should get you more buyers.

Sorry but without an MOT it is pretty much worthless. I should get the yellow pages out and find a scrap man. Is it really worth all the effort for £50?

Not quite true. It's worth sub £50 in scrap if you can get it to a scrap yard, or about £0 if they collect it. But it's potentially worth a lot more to someone who wants bits off it and has the means to collect. Could easily get it collected from the driveway and get £100+ in cash.

It's obviously worth a lot more with an MOT, as it can be driven off and used as-is.

I think it would be 50/50 on passing an MOT. To get it to a garage for an MOT I'll be needing to tax and insure it though.

You will only need to insure, you can't tax without an MOT so to get there you are allowed to drive without an MOT or tax purely to get to the test centre and return.

But make sure you have an appointment otherwise you could get a fine if you go past a camera, I think the exemption only applies for a booked appointment.

Take it to pieces. Sell as many parts as you can on eBay. Bin the rest.

There does not seem any way to get around the tax and insurance requirement even if just taking it to the scrap yard, even if it had an MOT.

I saw a car being trailered the other day. It was the smallest trailer I have ever seen but it did the job. If you could hire some-one with a trailer like that I don't think it would cost an arm and a leg.

Might be worth ringing motor salvage places.

Last year we scrapped an old Citroen Berlingo that had failed it's MOT and a local company picked it up on a trailer and gave us 60 quid for it.
