Bedroom floorboards.

Hi my son needs to replace a bedroom floor as some of the boards are wet and move up and down. It is the same stuff that is used for putting floors in lofts please? Also is it a doable job for diy people to keep the costs down ? Thank you.

Best to sort out the reason they are wet first. Loft boards are really only to allow storage in the loft, not really good enough for furniture and people moving about in a habitable room.

Well my current house (built 1969) has wooden boards but my previous one (built 1985) had sheets of what I would describe as chipboard.

My current ( 13 year old ) house has chipboard floors throughout.

OP, if you Google for "Chipboard flooring" you'll find any number of examples.

Yep, I was going to add that it could be sheet T&G chipboard but thought they'd probably notice the difference when they went to buy it . . . :p

Our 24 year old house has wooden floorboards upstairs, and chipboard downstairs.

OP needs to identify exactly what they need before going any further!

Yes it's a do-able DIY job. We've just done one of our bedrooms. We had woodworm in some of ours, although we think it wasn't live any more, we were re-plastering so we thought we might as well pull up the floor too. We just bought the newer t&g style chipboard flooring
Wasn't hard to do at all. Pulled the old boards out and then laid down the new, we used decking screws to hold it down.
