Default counted twice on MSE Credit club

Feeling a little aggrieved about this.
I logged into the MSE Credit club this morning to check to see if a default had been removed - which it had.
Only to be replaced by a default from MBNA. MBNA sold the debt on to IDEM who I repaid in 2015. Surely you can't have a default for both IDEM and MBNA for the same debt?
I have logged the default as an error but will I have to prove this? All the default dates are the same but on the report it states four defaults rather than 3.
Not sure what else to do about this.

That sounds like an admin error.
Yes, you can have a default registered by 2 companies, but only 1 "counts" at any one point.
You defaulted with MBNA in 2013 say. They sell the debt to IDEM in 2014. That "settles" the debt with MBNA, but now you owe the money to IDEM. Because they legally have to show the account as defaulted for 6 years, they re-register the default in their name, as they take all rights and responsibilities of the debt upon purchase.
I take it you complained to IDEM who removed the default for some reason? It should have wiped the slate but the original default was not cleared for some reason.
What was the default removed for and who removed it? It may be needed to send the paperwork confirming the removal to IDEM and or MBNA to remove from their side and if not, complaining to the ICO.

Ok I think I understand you here. I have always seen the two records on Experian but the MBNA record was not registered as a default only the IDEM record. This has changed since there have been some updates to the data used.
I don't owe anyone anything - this debt was paid off in 2015. The default is due to be removed at the end of this month.
However, my issue is that last month this was 1 default. This month it is 2 defaults. There has been a change somewhere. I supposed what I am miffed about is that I should only have 3 defaults but there is now 4 AGAIN!!
No I have never complained to either IDEM or MBNA because before this only counted as one default.0 -

A default isn't removed because it is settled. It's removed either 6 years from the default date, or if the default is successfully disputed.
It may be a change in reporting, but you don't have 2 defaults, or at least you shouldn't. Contact Experian if you need help as they're the CRA who provide the data for the MSE Credit club.

Hi Crystal_Pixie,
I'm sorry to hear that you've spotted an inaccuracy on your report. To raise a query within the club, follow these steps:
> Next to each account in your report, you'll see an arrow to expand the account info or you can click "Expand all" to show all your accounts.
> Once expanded, in each account, you'll then find the ‘Need some help’ button. It will look like this:
If you click through the options, you’ll be able to raise an online query and send this through to Experian.
Experian will then look into this with the lender or organisation who provides it with this record. This can take a little while to investigate, but you should hear back from Experian to your registered Credit Club email address within 28 days.
I hope this helps.0 -

Thank you Chris I will do that. I have spotted another duplicate account as well.0 -

No I understand that the record doesn't get removed after settlement, but this account defaulted in July 2011 so I am expecting it to be removed very soon.
If not I really will be putting a complaint in!0
