Openreach Cabinet Full - Can't change provider!

Since at least September last year the telephone cabinet which serves my house has been 'full'.

I currently have Sky Fibre broadband, and was back then looking to move to BT Infinity for a cheaper deal. Despite the fact that one of the spaces in the cabinet is mine, there seems to be no way for me to change suppliers and stay on fibre broadband (I'd drop down to ADSL)

Has anyone else experienced this problem? With a bit of bluffing last year I did manage to get sky to give me 60% discount for the year but that will end soon. There doesn't seem to be any mechanism to get Openreach to upgrade the cabinet, so effectively I'm just stuck!

My cabinet is also full (at least 2 years now) and I'm also with Sky - yes, you're kindof stuck, and I certainly wouldn't be taking the risk of giving up 'my' fibre line, for someone else to steal it! Stick with Sky and beat them down every year. Openreach will argue that they're going as fast as they can adding cabinets. Be grateful that you're not stuck on ADSL waiting to get onto fibre, like my mate up the street from me who's stuck at 3mb/s!

Sky's not a bad supplier to be stuck with.

At least you aren't stuck with BT !

It's a bit of a strange scenario but you have the likes of Sky and TalkTalk to thank for it. They wanted everything to be super equivalent so Openreach took it to the N'th degree implementing that a port had to be available to migrate to.

Stops ISP's using BT Wholesale backhaul having an "advantage" by allowing customers to switch within ISP's using that backhaul even when there were no spare ports.
