Hi
I had someone come round to have a look at some work I wanted doing. Although not related to what he was quoting for he look out of the upstairs window and noticed the pointing on the outside brickwork had gone. His first question was has the house moved - I nearly fainted and was shocked that I had not spotted this.
I had a look round the other parts of the house and could not see anything else. The back of the house is cladded and can't spot anything there
Pic is at this link - https://twitter.com/payrollexcel/status/882553756554055680
It's not the greatest picture but you can see three bricks that are of concern
Should I be worried? Calling my insurer?
Any ideas? I'm quite worried sick at the moment!!

Could you go outside and take a picture of the house, please? It's so isolated that we can't even see where it's coming from or going to.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Or at least open the window and lean out with the camera.
It does look like the perp joints have opened up quite significantly but we need some context.0 -

I think Doozergirl meant the whole house so it's possible to see the context of what you've photographed up close.Doozergirl wrote: »Could you go outside and take a picture of the house, please? It's so isolated that we can't even see where it's coming from or going to.0 -

That's exactly what I meant, thanks!
Has the house been repointed? It looks like there are two different areas of pointing on that wall.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Sorry, but :rotfl:
What next, a microscope image of a brick particle?!
You need to "zoom out", not in! We need to be able to see the location and size of the crack in relation to the house. Is it at a point where there's a conservatory for example? Is it part of an extension? That sort of thing.0 -
That looks like some fairly serious movement but it cannot be restricted to the top few courses of brickwork.
Is there any cracking anywhere else, behind the rainwater downpipe perhaps or anything internally? Some of the bricks lower down near the roof (porch?) seem to be a different colour...have there been previous repairs?
Is the part where the window is an extension? The mortar seems to be a different colour.0
