I've never been in this sort of situation so have absolutely no idea what to expect.

I have been to a few, expect a room with a table, men and women in suits. Nothing like Judge Rinder, no flags, no gowns, no podiums, no lecterns, no usher, no hissy fits. No one is on trial, it is just a dispute over money, judge decides which party, OTBOP, owes whom.

If it goes to debt recovery, won't that have an impact on my credit rating? (I ask because I aim to buy a house in the next couple of years)

I am surprised that, after 80 posts, you are still asking such basic questions, have you not done any research, have you not heard of search engines?

This is really is no big deal, but you really need to do some reading.

I have spent a lot of time searching but I just like to be sure. Also, a lot goes over my head as the whole thing has caused a bit of stress - especially with it being in an area that I know little about.

I will send a letter asking for a LBC and take it from there.

I was 13 minutes after the end time..so in was in the wrong.. but I didn't know the timer stopped the moment we left the car park. If memory serves, we sat and waited for the sat nav to kick in and find anext location..we would be done this elsewhere had we known.

Maybe. That is, if you believe their ANPR exit camera clock is synch'd to the machine...could be 2 or 3 minutes out as they are not one system, it's 2 systems.

We've all collected debt collector letters in our time (well I have) and I'm a law-abiding wife and Mum with no debts and a clear DBS, credit record, you name it. I'm not some chancer. It's normal to IGNORE debt letters about scam parking charges and no, that cannot affect your credit rating.
