eBay warning - selling outside ebay

I have had a warning from eBay regarding selling outside eBay
Buyer contacted me regarding an auction item with no bids, he wanted to buy and was also interested in two more items without bids. He contacted me to say that he would buy the first then I could sell him the others and send him a PayPal invoice and save myself some eBay fees
I replied and said I would end the auctions and relist as buy it now so he could purchase
I ended them and before I could relist I received a warning from eBay ref selling outside eBay
Once they were relisted he purchased through eBay. I contacted eBay CS who said I should have replied to his original message quoting the eBay policies and made it very clear that I would not sell outside eBay
So, I've done nothing wrong and now have a warning on my account.
Moral, don't ever try to be helpful to your buyer.

Yep, the new policies mean customer service is now a thing of the past. I wear my warning with pride - albeit slightly concerned about how long it stays on my record as one one more and I face restrictions!I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I have a warning too, also worn with pride. And for a £2k cash in hand sale I'm happy to stick two fingers up to eBay over it
To be fair I expected it would happen and I rarely sell on there these days so I'm not too fussed.0 -
If there is a next time instead of ending the auction revise the start price to the price that has been agreed on, get the buyer to bid and then end the listing early to sell to the highest bidder. I did this last week and managed to avoid getting a warning doing it this way.0

Where can we view any warnings we may have on our accounts? I did have a message a couple of years ago from EBay but I don't know if it was a warning or not."For beautiful eyes, look for the good in others; for beautiful lips, speak only words of kindness; and for poise, walk with the knowledge that you are never alone."0

There is no way of checking they show nowhere at all. That's why I mentioned being worried about how long it stays on my account, other sellers are reporting being restricted after just 2 warnings which is a worry. Generally though it is thought to either be 3 months or a year, but no one seems to know for certain.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
