Looking for Free Written VAT Quotation for Body Repairs
Hi,
Im looking to repair a car privately outside insurance.
Before I do i like to know do I have the right to ask for a written VAT quote for free or does the body shop have the right to charge a fee for this written service?
Does anyone know any good car body repair shops in Birmingham?

A "written VAT quote"?
A firm quote is quite likely to simply not be possible until after dismantling has started, because the full extent of the damage might not be visible. An estimate should be straightforward, but it'll be an estimate, not a quote.
As for the "VAT" part, I think you're getting confused with VAT invoices.0 -
I can see what Adrian is saying, but dependent on the extent of the damage, I don't see why you couldn't get a quote rather than an estimate.
Bear in mind that because of the possibility of there being further problems only visible once the work has started, most bodyshops would err on the side of caution and therefore tend to quote a pretty high figure to protect themselves, as a quote would be binding, as opposed to an estimate which would not be.
VAT would be shown as a component of any quote, estimate or invoice of a VAT registered business unless it was specifically stated that VAT would be added to any actual final invoice at the current rate.0 -

You can ask for what you like & they can charge for what they like (within reason). Rights have nothing to do with it.Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.0
