New "The Big Deal" & TalkTalk Package

I got that too, and surprise surprise, their two offers are both more expensive than the provider I just switched to *without* any fancy negotiated deal (Octopus Energy). And I'm even on a 100% renewable plan.Amusingly, I just got an email from 38Degrees telling me how excited they were to announce their new energy offer with......The Big Deal, so I am also going to start a petition on 38degrees to force 38degrees to break all ties with TBD.
They could just advise everyone to use OE (which is actually a decent company with good customer service, and uniquely one that won't switch you to a super-expensive standard variable tariff at the end of your fix)...but then of course they wouldn't make any money off you, so they have to negotiate these deals that aren't actually that great and then advertise them as though they're amazing so they get their cut from the provider when you switch.
TBD is a for-profit company, and it shows. I'm surprised 38 Degrees hasn't set up its own non-profit alternative that actually cares about consumers.0 -
TheBigDeal wrote: »And just for clarity on all those saying our offer from TalkTalk isn't exclusive. TalkTalk is offering a broadband deal costing £19.95 and a fibre deal costing £25 direct, however, they do not include the Unlimited Calls to landlines and mobiles free for 18 months (usually costing £7.50 a month).
We negotiated this extra as it's what our members asked for. So our offer is exclusive to the Big Deal.
The deal is also available to existing TalkTalk customers as any TalkTalk deal is open to all people, they don't offer "new customers only" deals.
Absolute bollox.
I am not a member of your group.
I am a talktalk customer.
When I "renewed my contract" online direct with Talktalk for £25 it also shows the unlimited calls cost at £7.50 discounted to £0.00 for the 18 month duration. (I also have a £2 supersafe boost)
Needless to say I cannot view the status of my order 24 hours later on the talktalk website "due to technical difficulties"
So I cannot show you the proof however

Even when it's from the worst-rated ISP in the country? And one that was recently fined £400,000 for failing to prevent the theft of personal data of almost 157,000 customers, including thousands of people's bank details?TheBigDeal wrote: »On the subject of that deal, we absolutely stand by it as a great offer. What's more, we know it suited our members very well... because we asked them what they wanted! The biggest issue for our members was the price of their broadband and the complexity of their package, including price rises and hidden charges. So when TalkTalk offered us the cheapest fibre in Britain, plus free calls, plus a guarantee that the price would be honoured for 18 months... that felt like a good deal for our members.Elizabeth Denham, the Information Commissioner, said: “TalkTalk’s failure to implement the most basic cyber security measures allowed hackers to penetrate TalkTalk’s systems with ease.“Is it possible your members kind of thought avoiding companies like that was implied?
I mean, suppose you'd asked them "Would you prefer a company that is careful with your personal data, or is a low price more important?" for example, what do you think they would have said?0
