Can a landlord claim benefit if he lives other city as renting.
Scenario like this
Family
Husband wife and a disable child
Husband is working earning 7.5 per hour . Hour varies week to week.
Gross yearly income 16,000.
Rental profit (Husband/wife joint mortgage) Expecting <3000
Property Price 100,000 (Mortgage 84,000)

Current benefit
Child benefit
DLA for child in wife bank account (310.60 for 4weeks)
CA for wife to look after child.

Is this family eligible housing benefit and child tax credit ?

The only way to find out if they are entitled to housing benefit would be if they went to their local council and filled out the form. They would be paid the local LHA rate for the amount of bedrooms the law deems they need which will be the governments contribution towards their rent.

Getting Carers Allowance and DLA suggests that she *may* be entitled to claim Income Support as well.

In regards to child tax credit it depends on how many hours he works, if one week he works x amount he is entitled and if the next week he works y amounts then hes not entitled that month. The only way to find out is to apply, they might ask him to keep track of the hours he works and send them to Tax Credits to work out how much to pay every week.

This rental property is an asset, so that £16k would stop you claiming HB anyway.

You should be able to claim CTC based on your estimated income

    Many thanks.

q1) If the assets calculated for rental property is 16000,
But Personal credit card loan is 15000 .Does it have any affect ?

q2) When calculating wife income , is DLA included?
DLA for child but comes wife bank account?

1/ The debt won't take away the assets, the property is still an asset.
2/ DLA isn't means tested so won't count.

The DLA is your child's money, not your wife's, so is not included in her income, even though it is paid into her account

Hold on, the LL is the family? living elsewhere?

What happens when tenant doesn't pay rent? Or when house needs repairs?

Why not liquidate the asset now?

I know, but the OP then asked

So i answered. Your reply about it not being means tested, didn't answer their question, contributory JSA isn't means tested, but it still counts as income, same with SSP or maternity pay, but DLA doesn't, because it's not the wifes money, means tested or not is irrelevant

I did answer the question because it wouldn't be counted even if it was her DLA...thank you.
