First Direct Switch

Guys im a bit unsure here...ive applied and have been accepted by First direct and would like to get the £125 switch bonus.

However i switched to a M&S account via switch and then switched (just) From M&S to Halfix for the Cash.

I believe M&S are part of HSBC group as is FD...would that mean the bonus is null and void.

Lastly couldnt see any terms regards switching direct debits...anyone know if you need active DD"s when switching to FD.

If M&S account holders, past or present, are excluded, the incentive T&Cs will clearly say so. Do they?

If DDs are required, again the incentive T&Cs will clearly say so. Do they?

FD's incentive T&Cs are probably the clearest out there, running to only 3 or 4 paragraphs. In short, if you can't see it, no-one else can. :)

Well switching from FD to HSBC is a goer and you get the switch bonus (at the time £150 then a further £50 after 12 months) although some HSBC branch staff seem to say you can't, they were wrong.
I asked about switching but didn't bother in the end, I opted for BOS and then stuck with my Tesco account, reckoning on I get more from it with spending (points in Tesco) and interest over the switch bonuses.

As for going the other way HSBC to FD you should as above read the T & C's on FD, even ask the question on chat or give them a call to be sure.

Edit....... I can't see anything on the FD website saying you can't have the switch bonus switching from an HSBC account.

Thought id ask on here as opposed the bank itself...last time ive tried that with Nationwide and M&S was given wrong info.

Those who have been there done it..often sight more reliable than some bank staff.

I've recently had a similar situation. First Direct is a division of HSBC. I have a Bank of Scotland account and switched an account with a different bank to Halifax (which is a division of Bank of Scotland) and was able to get the bonus - and they do exclude switches from Bank of Scotland to Halifax). The best thing to do is ask First Direct as they would be paying the bonus!
