Hi All,
I do hope you can offer me some assistance atleast on what to do and what not to do.
I understand that resigning from your current position is not the most sensible idea, however, over the past 6 months I have felt nothing but sadness and stress from my current position.
When I joined the company in Dec 2015 I found myself enjoying it, until a new member of management came in and decided to change everything (systems and processes) around a year ago, some changes were good and some were bad which made our jobs a lot more difficult. Overtime, he became more involved in the payroll and without notice, advised everyone of the change of payroll dates and only paid everyone 3 weeks instead of the 4, meaning they owed everyone 1 week.
I got this money in advance as I kicked up a fuss as I had outgoings (the company does't know my financial position). However, how it was explained to me was that I would receive five weeks pay this month - Surprisingly, I haven't and I've also been deducted from been off sick and my money which I had in advance which has ultimately left me short again.
Around 3 weeks ago, the director of the company approached me and offered me "amnesty" for works carried out last financial year which we possibly lost money on. I have had a good think through but nothing comes to mind (Apart from one job but this was not originally mine and I made management aware) but the man as mentioned above has provided him with a list of jobs that I have made the company lose money on but won't disclose this information with me.
I had some annual leave and when I returned, I was asked if I had carried out the task (whilst on annual leave and in my own time) to which I said no and I would try and make time within my working schedule. This morning I came into work to be shouted at as I had not got the information requested and was asked if I thought that it was a 'joke' then throughout the day, I have felt myself getting blamed for everything bad that has possibly happened.
I understand this seems more of a rant, but I have to give 4 weeks notice and I am not sure that I will be able to stay in this role any further due to stress.
I have written the resignation letter and I am prepared to hand it in, but feel I need to get other peoples opinions/advise due to my family telling me what I want to hear and not providing the correct guidance.
Thank you

Don't quit your job. Go to your doctor and get signed off sick for stress and depression. Take the maximum amount of sick leave possible then resign afterwards.0 -
I was off sick the other week and they were calling me constantly regarding work.. they also contact
Me whilst I'm on annual leave on my personal number0 -
Go sick, ditch your phone or just switch it off , simple as thatmake the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
Get a £20 non smart from argos or one of the supermarkets, get a payg sim and top it up with whatever is needed then inform the employer you have changed your number to the payg sim, put the phone in the drawer and forget about it.0

I mean getting a sick note from the doctor. They sign you off for x period of time, its not a case of you saying you are sick its your doctor telling them you are sick. They can't harass you to come as its doctors orders not to and they will have a copy of doctors orders on the sick note.0 -
If and when you can, go into work as normal . . .
However, you are no longer there as an employee of the company ; you are now an actor, playing the role of an employee in the company. The rants at your performance, are merely cues by a fellow actor, for you to exercise your acting skills, and you respond as you imagine a harassed employee would. They will sound convincing ( their acting skills are better than yours ) ; but remember, it's only a movie. Anthony Hopkins only said he ate someone's liver ; and who the hell thinks a Chianti is the right wine to go with that ?
At the moment, whatever else is happening, they are paying you more money than benefits.
If you haven't already, start making a log ( at home ) of the most extreme behaviour. Count the swear words : F-words are only 2 points, but the C-word is 10 points. Unless you have the right ethnicity, you probably won't get the 20 point N-word.
Your problem, is that you care about doing a good job ; but the management behaviour means they want you to do a bad job, and hence you are meeting ( or rather, exceeding ) the standard, so that's fine. Mediocre, is the new excellent.
The worst they can do, is sack you ; but if you are considering resigning, then threatening it would be an empty threat. Like threatening to push a skydiver out of a plane.
If you go job-hunting ( good idea ) don't do it at work, or on company equipment. They are now playing your game, don't let them quit early.0 -
I agree that they are using me and pushing me out, it was already confirmed to me that the manager who above mentioned has caused a lot of drama wanted to get rid of myself and another team member,0

Being under pressure at work does not mean you are ill. Being shouted at does not mean you are ill.
This sort of crap (not the OP, some of the "advice") does people with genuine depression and mental illness no favours at all.0 -
It is normally easier to get a new job when you are employed than when you are unemployed.
Before resigning, ask yourself honestly how easily you will be able to find alternative work, and how long you can manage on your current savings if you don't get a new job straight away.
It is my understanding that if you resign you may not be entitled to claim JSA/Universal Credit straight away, and could be sanctioned for up to 6 months.
If you can, I'd suggest that you start looking or a new job and that you leave once you have found one.
I wasn't clear about the specific 'task' you are being asked to carry our but it may be sensible for you to address it in writing to your line manager - "Dear x, you have asked me to carry out a task setting out / addressing issues where work of mine has caused the company to lose money. I am not aware of having done work which left the company out of pocket but if you can let me have details of the particular jobs . tasks you are referring to, I will of course be happy to respond"
If you do know what he wants then I'd suggest that you try to do the task asap.
If you do actually feel that your stress is at a level where you are ill, as opposed to being a stressful situation but not a medical issue, then see your GP.
But wither way, I would not recommend resigning until you have a new job to go to.All posts are my personal opinion, not formal advice Always get proper, professional advice (particularly about anything legal!)0 -
