Trust a body shop?

Really, is this a serious post!My car is going into a (insurer approved) body shop for a bumper replacement. they said they will replace it but will need the car in the garage for 5 days.
How can I trust them - what if they steal parts or replace my engine?
Anyone here who knows how things work in garages? Are they under CCTV all the time?0 -
-
They will also go past numerous Gatsos at an outrageous speed, and do a few bank jobs.0
-
Plus of course untold damage could be hid behind the bumper, all adding time to repair it. Plus of course will they fit a non genuine bumper depending on insurance company will allow them to do it.0

Get one of those security marker pens and sign your name on every part of the car.0 -

Any idea of the labour/cost required to replace an engine?!
What's the car? If the bumper needs painted, there may be several layers, and several drying times. I'd rather that than a rushed job.
Anyway, there'll be a serial number on the engine, jot it down just in case...0 -
In fairness to the op 20 years ago I had a mark 2 cavalier that was being written off and the insurers told me to take everything out the car. I had 2 heavy duty speakers in a custom parcel shelf which I wanted back. Lo and behold they weren't in the car by the time I got there!!0

And yes it could be argued they weren't part of the car so didn't really chase up BUT they certainly didn't belong to the vauxhall garage!!!0

It's not the Insurance company 'allowing' then to do it, some will stipulate that spurious NOE to be fitted. It's a way of keeping the costs down.I used to work for Tesco - now retired - speciality Clubcard0
