Pedigree dry food changes again

Options
Has any one noticed pedigree appear to have changed their Vital protection food again? I have a giant breed dog and have been using their Maxi since they stopped doing their better by nature range.

I now need to obtain some and a lot of places are not listing it at all, and it appears the rest of the range has gone from 15k sacks to 12k sacks and are all still the same price as they were for the 15K!
an increase of 33%.

Do they not realise that food should be introduced gradually over a period of time we went through a really rough time with my girls tummy upsets when we had to change from their last food change.

Reducing the size of the package instead of increasing the price is normal these days.

It happens with chocolate- compare th size of a chocolate bar with one a year ago. Some don't even reduce the size of the wrapper leaving part of it empty.

You will only get one of the old ones of a retailer has old stock.

Has it changed formula or just the bag size?

Have you looked at amazon. they have a range of Vital food but again it is the new 12kg bag.

According to Pedigree's own site you can buy a 18 kg bag form Amazon.

Changing foods can be an absolute nightmare if you have to do it suddenly - I REALLY don't envy you there Limara! I used to feed Pedigree but had quite a lot of supply issues so completely gave up on them a while back and switched all of mine. All my animals now are on Pet Connection Super Premium food and they're all doing really well off it, I couldn't recommend it more - it's a bit of a jump in price but it's much better quality, has higher meat content and better ingrediants - plus there's been no issues at all for me over supply in few years of feeding this. The dog stuff is hypoallergenic as well and seems to be gentle enough on their stomachs. This is the large breed one: https://www.petconnection.ie/product/pet-connection-super-premium-hypoallergenic-large-breed-dog-food-adult-chicken-and-rice-12kg

Hope this helps a little :)

Get your dog on a better quality food, with a more reputable company less likely to switch formulas to save money etc. Now is probably a good time as you're going to have to change anyway (I do understand your hesitation if she's a sensitive girl)

Raw is fab for many dogs with sensitive tums and doesn't have to break the bank - brands like DAF and Bulmer can work out cheaper than stuff like Pedigree, without paying for all the crud in it too. I know it's not for everyone though - so check out https://www.allaboutdogfood.co.uk, you can search by excluding ingredients if she has allergies or intolerances too, and it shows you cost per day (much more comparable than cost per bag - a bag of Pedigree may be cheaper than a bag of something else, but if you have to feed twice as much because of all the fillers, is it as economical?)

Zooplus have 15kg bags still on sale (http://www.zooplus.co.uk/shop/dogs/dry_dog_food/pedigree/pedigree_large_breed/19498).

I agree with krlyr though, use it as an opportunity to try something better quality. You don't need to spend loads, if you are on a budget I always recommend Skinners Field & Trial Duck & Rice for people to try as a switch from the likes of Iams, Pedigree, etc.

For around the same price as you pay for Pedigree dry food (£25 from Amazon & Pets at Home), you can get a 15kg bag of Skinners Duck & Rice. It has a named meat product and no questionable 'meat and animal derivatives / by-products', decent quality grains and a fairly short and simple ingredient list.

Or pay a little more to open up some better quality foods.
