Miss sold sofas

Hi all,
Yesterday my wife and I went to a well known sofa shop to have a look at some sofas. We went with some rough measurements and no real intention to buy unless there was a good to be had.
We found 2 sofas we liked and they seemed to match up with our rough measurements but thought we better go home and make sure, until the salesman said if we paid cash (debit card) there and then he would knock 10% off. we could still go home and check the measurements to make sure they fit too.
We thought this was a good deal and really liked the sofas so we agreed. The salesman started taking our name and address and filling in a form. At this point I needed the toilet and went to the customer toilets. As I come out the salesman pointed me in the direction of the cashier. I paid and was given a receipt and the form which he filled out earlier.
Once we got home we remeasured the areas where the sofas were going to go and they wouldn't fit the spaces properly.
This morning I went back to the shop and saw the manager and explained what had happened. He had the paperwork off of me and then showed me a signature underneath a sentence stating no cancellations. when I went to the toilet my wife had signed the form. I didn't see the form until I had paid and was given it along with a receipt.
We were led to believe if the sofas didn't fit we would get a refund.
I don't agree to the no cancellation terms and did not sign it and it was me that paid.
At this moment the manager says we cant have a refund, but can make ammendments. We don't like any other sofas in the shop so just want a refund.
Surely as the consumer paying for these sofas and not signing the no cancellations policy this deal should be overturned?
Any advice will be much appreciated.

I think you should discuss your annoyance with your wife.0 -
He said she said won't cut it, they have the signed receipt.
Your wife signed it but by paying for it you too are just a guilty of forming the contract. There is nothing you can do now.0 -
Although DFS are not very good with their customers some people have managed to cancel by being persistant, try writing to their Head Office.0

Go in the store and make a fuss.
Tell them you only bought them because you were specifically told by <person> you would be able to go home and check the dimensions to make sure they would fit.
Clearly you have bern lied to to get a sale, but I have no doubt they knew full well you couldn't cancel.
Be persistent and make a nuisance of yourself in store.Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
Have a word with the Mrs. Failing that, get a decent solicitor. There is a forum for that her as well!0

You weren't miss sold. You miss bought.0

Mrs Freedomfighter15 here (hijacking MrFF15's thread)!
So yesterday and today while you guys were probably sitting in your man caves scratching you knackers I was busy applying a little gentle pressure in the right places to SCS (you know, the shysters notorious for their non cancellation/non refund policy). By 1pm today they rang me and told us to come down to the store to complete a refund as they were cancelling the order. Nice to know us women are good for something eh? Feeling quite victorious, power to the people!!0
