Cheap energy club for my parents

Greetings,
I'm already in the cheap energy club but would like to know if I can search for deals on behalf of my parents without affecting my own details. They live in a flat and are supplied electricity by EDF but my parents don't go online. I'd like to check if they could make a good saving and thought I could enter their details for the energy club but give my email address if that would work.
They are reluctant to switch as they've done it before and had a very bad experience, receiving several bills from both the old and new suppliers. If they did want to remain with EDF they could save money by paying via direct debit and having an online account. Does anyone here know if I could make an online account for them? Ideally I would use my payment details in case of problems with fraudsters, but don't know if that would be allowed. I'm not being lazy, just trying to avoid a frustrating experience talking to someone at EDF!
Thank you for any advice you may be able to offer.

MSE CEC uses an Ofgem-approved comparison site which all use the same data. Before you go to all the trouble of setting up a MSE account for them why not determine which deals might be available to them. Look at Which Switch, USwitch or EnergyHelpline. You can choose the best deal and then sign up via the supplier's own website.
You also need to explain that switching is not something that happens instantly. It can take 5 weeks to transfer a supply, and a further 5 weeks for the new supplier to set up an online account. Not all suppliers are signed up to 17 day switching. Moreover, a number of suppliers now want money before supply so it is not unusual to end up paying 2 suppliers for energy at the same time. This will be resolved once a transfer meter reading is validated and a Final Bill is raised.
You also need to re-assure your parents about DD payments. They are secure and are covered by a Bank guarantee. It it helps tell them that there are 70 year olds that switch frequently (me) and have never had an issue. Most suppliers will happily produce paper bills at a small extra cost. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Guilty of 3% inflation for effect! :eek:This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Thank you for your helpful suggestion, I'll try Uswitch for some price comparisons. My mum accepts that direct debits are the way to go if they want to save some money. I could save them some money if I was able to persuade them to move from BT or change to a better plan. They could actually save money if they had broadband as well but they aren't interested in getting online. I wanted to sign up for the Plusnet fibre deal that's expired now. BT wanted to charge me £97 to leave them and my contract ends on the 17th of July.
I appreciate that switching energy suppliers takes a while, but think it's wrong that my parents were sent five bills during the process. I didn't see them myself, but am sure I'd have been unable to tell if the charges were correct.
Thanks again!0
