Perhaps you are measuring the chair "incorrectly". If you measured to the bottom of a piece of tubing you would get a different measurement than if it was to the centre of the tubing - possibly 5mm difference.

5mm, it will be almost impossible to notice the difference with that tolerance anyway so even if they did add the 5mm you will never notice it.

Thanks for all your useless advice so far.....

As for the guys suggestion for more air in your tyres.... you need to get out a bit more.

In my eyes the word precision engineering means just that, so much for paying £4k for what I thought would be a good job..

Yes, precision engineering would also have tolerances. Ask for the technical drawing they worked to as it should have a tolerance on it.

(10 years precision engineering experience, so not sure why you feel this advice useless...or perhaps not what you wantedvto hear?)

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

Are people actually so rude, that they'd call advice from people who give up their free time to help 'useless'?

Just for that, I hope the company stonewall you and you're stuck with it. Absolutely disgusting attitude.
