I never understand why buyers get so worked up about postage, Ebay's excesive p&p policy is a joke, they pretend it's their for the buyers benefit, but the only reason it's there is to stop fee avoidance. I don't care what the postage charge is as long as I feel I've got a good deal, given the choice of BIN at £100 with free postage or the same item at £50 with £40 postage I'd go for the later.

well said! itd save the seller £10 of FVF too! I do think that eBay and horrible horrible paypal have rules that they claim are for the benefit of sellers/buyers when its just to fund their pockets.

"Due to the number of disputes in this category..we're going to force you to sell with paypal, rip you off completely and cut your profit further"

    grr! anyway that was OT

Well, there's the small matter of paypal not refunding your postage in the event of a problem. Me, I'd prefer to be £0 out of pocket than £40.
    My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j

The bonus of having free P&P is that in the event of a dispute paypal refund all the money so it does work in the buyers interest. I always look for this option where possible.

The bidder should have checked before bidding re combined postage, although on 7 items you would naturally assume some combining could be done to keep the costs down. I always check first, if the seller then emails back to say they are not willing to combine I dont bid as there is probably a cheaper way of obtaining the items I am after.

Assuming that £40 does not represent a fair post and packing charge then I would definitely go for the first one and avoid the second seller for two main reasons. Firstly the first seller is trying to be clever avoiding fees so is mor elikely to get suspended and just cause me problems. If a seller tries to be underhand with ebay can I trust them to be straight with me?

Secondly although I pay by paypal backed by a card and so will get my money back in cases of loss the second seller is going to have major problems with RM should they need to claim for a lost parcel. if they know they are not going to get all their money back they might delay my refund forcing me to go to paypal and use up one of my 3 claims per annum, or even force me to go to my credit card which just delays things. The first seller can rest happy that they have a £100 item lost and so may be qucker tor efund me knoiwng they will get a refund.

Obviously if £40 represents a fair postage then I would just buy from the cheapest overall.
