Because needs crop up, at least in my household, more frequently than that. Also, there is the little matter of re-requesting.0 -
I think no system is perfect. At the end of the day, stuff gets kept out of landfill and a lot of folk get the things they need for free.
I got a kettle a few weeks ago on it! Was well chuffed!
Easy to give it a hard time - has anyone any ideas on how to make it better?

Yeah the two wanted ads is a bit of a hinderance, the only time i've ever asked for anything was when moving into a new home, which was the only time i've ever wanted to ask for anything and I wanted three or four items. I think a better system would be one request per month, and then an additonal request per item you've offered.0

That would lead to lots of false offers, Plus no-one can really tell just how active a member is, We can check the message board to see what posts someone has made, But how do you know if someone is giving a lot through replying to wanteds? If google doesn't know it, how should i?0 -
Freecycle has many flaws, but the main one is the site is lacking in modernity!
Unfortunately this point hasn't been raised from the replies I have read . Why do we still have email groups anyway?
It looked outdated when it was setup and it's still looks as though it was designed c.1997
The site needs a phpBB or vBulletin style board or what is commonly termed 'FORUM'
It is a very hard-to-keep-track-of site.
If someone 'posts' a message say "Offered: Naff all", they should not have to send 'Taken' on a seperate post. Can't the reply be 'in with' the original post?

i always seem to miss out on freecycle lol, im seem to be more a giver than a reciever. although i did once get a video player on freecycle well good as my kids can watch their vids, we didnt have one before.Jan 2015 GC £267/£260

I have found that some people using freecycle can be very rude, I was asked to paint some doors then she would have them, I was called a "!!!!!" for not allowing one man to take everything I listed, (I wanted it split amongst people), one lady asked for cooker, when I told her I had one she could have in two weeks, when my new one was delivered, she said "Oh no, I want a brand new one, not a used one".
I wanted to get rid of a load of Star Wars stuff, but had so many emails off obvious traders, some downright rude, that I don't know what to do with them now, charity shop refused them even though most are boxed and some are Japanese and American.0 -
I left the cardiff freecycle because someone put up a offered post for a brand new mattress.. I asked polightly and got offered it.. I turned up to the home and was shown a dirty practicaly flat mattress with "womanly" stains on, I said to the woman I would rather not accept it (I felt awfull saying it) because its not as stated in the post *new* She called me an ungratefull bi*ch and shut the door in my face,She then opened her upstairs window and started ranting at me!!
I was so embbarrised by the whole thing its put me right off
My stuff go's too the charity shops now and larger items go too the salvation army!
Your best bet it too offer your stars wars stuff too a school or a childrens home or something if you want them appreciated.2010 challenge A.B.C.D.[STRIKE]E.[/STRIKE]F.G.H.I.J.[STRIKE]K[/STRIKE].L.M.N.O.P.Q.[STRIKE]R[/STRIKE].S.T.U.V.W.X.Y.Z
