Freecycle is it corrupt??

Put it back on freecycle, say you got it off a fellow freecycler but it does not work so if anyone is good then it may be fixable?
My old freecycle (Nuneaton and Bedworth) was absolutely fantastic, really nice happy helpful people, I moved a few weeks ago and the one up here (Cramlington) is strict, they threaten to kick you off the group if you forget to put in your item location and have the title set out *perfectly* as they want it. In my opinion it is rubbish and if they loosened up and stopped being picky then they would have more people joining!Raising kids is like being held hostage by midget terrorists0 -
to be honest I didn't seem to get the hang of the Glasgow one. Found the rust and speed of folk wanting old rubbish<items for recycling, to be pc> OTT for me & will not use it again. Going to the charities when they come round with a bag, or in the waggon. Apologies for that but I already do my share for the evironment, if everyone did just a little bit eh.0

Good advice, Just such a shame that I now have to list something I wanted. I think there should be a rating system so you can tell other freecyclers about people who give away broken ems. He seemed nice enough though. If I do get anything on there again I'll make sure I see it working first.
But I do like the idea of people re-cycling stuff, its more eco than just throwing it away.0 -
I meant the rush of the Piranas on it, and me being 37 & rusty when it comes to these sorts of things.0

Watch those charity bags though. I saw something on tv about rogue companies who drop off bags claiming to be from a charity, they even say its registered. But they then sell on the clothing and items to eastern europe. I think it was rogue traders or watchdog. Either way, you have to be real careful its not a scam. I take things into my local charity shop, the problem is they now have so many rules as to what you can drop off. It makes it harder and harder to recycle and trying to help a good cause.0 -
I put some stuff on last week. within 5 minutes I had messages, one was v rude simply 'i'll have it' erm...NO you WON'T not with that attitude!!! best put people like that on your junk email list. the people who collected were thankful and polite and turned up when they said they would.
Its a shame theres no ratings like ebay so you could sort out the grabby and greedy or the time wasters from the genuine people.Member no.1 of the 'I'm not in a clique' group :rotfl:

Everyone on my group has started asking for items but not saying that its a wanted, you have to try and guess that they want it by the description. Aaarrgghh! Anyone who posts offers are now listing several items to giveaway in the same post, plus their phone number.
Also, the begging stories have started in the wanted posts too. There is little need to know the ins and outs of a persons awful life for them to need the giveaway car over anyone else, my life is total carp but i dont go telling everyone hoping for a few freebies!

I had an awful experiance on freecycle. We had been looking into getting a greenhouse and one popped up on freecycle on the condition that we take it down. So we went round to get it. Problem was the thing was !!!!!!ed. we started to try and take it down nice but the bolts and everything just kept shearing off.all over the place. Because we said we'd take it we basically ripped it down said our thank yous through gritted teeth and drove 5 mins to the dump and binned the lot as none of it was salvageable. Now I've had good things and bad things from freecycle but i only ever give away stuff that i think is unfit to ebay and junk in my eyes. If someone can be bothered to get off their !!!!!! and take it to a boot sale well good luck to them.
Wanteds have their place but some people out there are just greedy. On my group there is one women always begging with lots of !!!!!'s with her five kids and how she's so skint. She will post for days on end till she gets what she wants. She drives me so insane i dont read the mails anymore and only use the group when i need to get rid which is a shame. One of our best gets was an ancient plotter printer which we have adapted to be able to do vinyl cutting (signage) and I'm missing out on things like that now. <shrug> That was definatly saved from the skip. Maybe we can MSEcycle... no !!!!! allowed...:heart2:Got Married 1st may '10!:heart2:

I guess the takers are psychic.
There must be huge temptation for administrators seeing items before it reaches board.
Does this happen?
Am I the only person who has noticed strange things on Freecycle.I look forward to any comments.

Freecycle is a modern equivalent of the old rag and bone man with his unintelligible but characteristic street cry. You never see them anymore - I can even remember the typical Steptoe and Son Cart and horse (the whole forum suddenly falls asleep and loses the will to live............)
I dont personally approve of or use freecycle; its the car boot scroungers warehouse. Had it been for the benefit of a specific registered charity who made the collection from your doorstep then yes, but to fill the purses of car booters no.
Being frugal by nature anyway there isnt much I dont use to death by which time its probably only fit for the tip anyway!Keep trying.........................what else is there to do?
