Who issued the tickets and what debt collectors are you dealing with?

I was hoping to get some advice on how to best deal with Bailiffs after not paying two parking tickets, what charges I can contest and any information that might help me get through this rough patch I’m currently having. I am happy to clear the account, but I can’t afford too right now and they are insisting on instant full repayment. I’m also not sure i understand all the extra fees I’m seeing

The early discounted rate for these tickets would have been around £40 and it is such a shame that you could not afford to pay at the earlier rate or to appeal the ticket. That said, we are where we are.

Having looked at the enfacement fees, they do appear to be correct. One Source; (who are the relevant local authorities 'in house' bailiff organisation) have correctly charged a compliance fee of £75 for each PCN and although they are enforcing more than one debt at the same time, they are doing the correct thing by only charging one enforcement fee of £235.

Initially when reading your enquiry I considered that you could submit an Out of Time witness statement to the Traffic Enforcement Centre on the basis of the fact that you had left the country for a couple of months, but on closer reading, I notice that you had received notification of the PCN's beforehand.

I cannot see that you could now argue that you are 'vulnerable' either as thankfully, you are now looking to return back to back.

With enforcement of road traffic debts, a payment arrangement at such a late stage (when a personal visit has been made) is very difficult indeed and depends a great deal on the value of your vehicle:

If the vehicle is subject to hire purchase or is of a very low value, the enforcement agent would be more inclined to reluctantly accept a payment proposal. If the vehicle is of high value, then the vehicle could well be taken into control.

Just to point out to newbies to this board, that Herbie21 (the resident bailiff expert here) is only talking about Local Authority PCNs that have been ignored/not appealed, and the situation with bailiff enforcement of those real penalties.

None of the above applies to private parking tickets, nor their stupid 'debt collectors'!

And Local Authority ones are appealable too (most are winnable) but should never be ignored, as this case illustrates.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
