    Explain what.

You suggested that driving with part of the number plate obscured is permissible.

As a current buyer of a new second hand vehicle, I immediately ignore any that have been blanked out. I have no issue with the fact people feel as though I might clone their number plate, however I also have the right to feel sceptical as to why they've blanked the plate out.... and whether it's because the car is clocked through the roof etc.

I've recently viewed a car where that was the case.

Or you can click the 'check this cars past' and 'how much is this car to insure'

You cannot see the MOT history by clicking "check this cars past". The only option you have is to pay for a full HPI check.

If you're selling it, include the reg number because people are going to ask for it anyway and you want to maximize the chance of a sale.

If you're just posting a photo online, then it wouldn't hurt to obscure it.

Also remember to cover your plates when driving around the streets, or parked on your drive. Just in case someone wants an identical model to clone.

...and also to avoid the 'Dart charge'

You can check the MoT history for free on the Gov't's website:
