The final straw that decides you should leave

Arrived to work to find stuff from my desk along with the 'team teddy' just stashed away in a fortunately unlocked locker, no note no nothing as to why, had to retrieve them myself I've only been away a day and when I look round I see plenty other desks still cluttered with pen pots, those tissue boxes, picture frames, boxes of snacks, sweets and other jazz yet my flask and water bottle which are the only things on mine just got moved. This has just upset me more then when holiday wasn't put on the rota as soon as approved.

Did think about saying something as would rather someone spoke to me but guess now it just isn't worth it.

Just seems now to be the final dagger to affirm what I've thought last couple of months, what made you leave a job?

Seems a bit of an overreaction without further context. Perhaps someone just needed a desk to work at? Nothing got thrown away or damaged...

Crikey, I hope for your sake there's no 'Announcing our clear desk policy' email awaiting for you on Monday! ;)

12 months ago the management idea to lessen caseload pressures was to get supernumerary staff. Hasn't happened. Any retain staff. We currently have 8 vacancies....

recently management are going to lessen caseload pressures buy requesting funding for 10 extra staff.

Seems like a great idea. But they need to be addressing the reasons we can't retain staff or get experianced workers. Rather than be asking for funding that isn't there. It just seems as though they'll trot out the same idea reframed - not manage to actually implement it and gently pat us all on the head to get us to suck up the 70 hour working week.

You had a few bits moved, now you've moved them back. Not worth making a fuss about.

Why did you leave your last job?

Seems a very trivial reason to leave a job, unless there is a lot more to it than the OP has explained.
I think my reason for leaving my first employer had a bit more weight. We'd been woken at about 2am by police to be told that my brother had been in a car crash. At the hospital were told he probably only had hours to live. I called my employer asap and he called back a few hours later asking if he could bring work to the house for me. When I declined, his response was "Why not, it's only your brother". I didn't hang around long after that.

clearly says final straw, straw implying that this particular issue isnt major but in combination with everything else we are not aware of, its become too much.

    OP have you actually left?

Also, id imagine there was a desk clean-up while you was away, as you wasnt there, the easiest thing for them to do was move things on your desk and possibly tidy their own.

We are not really supposed to leave anything on our desks, we have drawers under our desks for that, imo just do that if its an option. Leave when you have something else lined up, your colleagues are not your friends, with that mindset, you will be fine.

Out of interest OP, how long do you stay with a job on average?

Answers ops question on 2 jobs

    1. Blatant favouritism shown towards other employees in an organisation that promotes an ethical and integrity culture.
    2. Being lied too by employer over future promotion promises

    Wont bore you with examples

I've found that the final straw is often trivial. I once left a job of 4 years when, having done a 92 hour week, a director criticised me for looking tired. I walked out and never went back.

    !!!!!! happens.

When these things happen repeatedly, perhaps it's not the employer with the problem?
