What is a "team teddy"? Any place that has one of those would be the final straw for me, even if it was on the first day. Do you have to take it home with you or something?

    Yes!

From what I've read on these boards the OP tends to be one of the more sensible posters, but I'd have to say the mention of a "team teddy" made me wonder if I needed to reconsider...

For me it was being told that taking 3mins 46seconds to walk the length of the office floor, go to the bathroom, and get a drink of water was 'excessive' and that all my bathroom breaks would be monitored! I was working 12hour shifts to help them out of a staff shortage, and had been sitting at my desk for almost 5 hours straight constantly on the phone. I called in sick the next day and never went back.

I think in a large office you usually have to have to deal with things like this, people sometimes have to move desk, some colleagues like winding people up etc. It's hardly worth sending an email about, it was just moved, not taken. Do you have lockable desk drawers to put your stuff in at the end of your working day? If you've only got a couple of things then that would make life easier so you know where your stuff will be.

The OP posted about their current job. The quote used referred to a previous job - so the OP is right - the previous job is nobodys business and wasn't even mentioned.

Are you a board guide or staff member?
Ah, the answer to my previous question on the other thread is now obvious.

You post stuff, its people's business. You really think that people won't check previous history? Someone who quits their job over coffee, or the team teddy... Really? Of course it's relevant.

I don't think you quite understand how forums work. Of course people assess using the previous posts that people have made. There are people on various sub-forums whose advice I respect based on what I have seen them post before.

In this case Sangie had better recall than I did, but I also had a vague recollection of the OP having had obscure employment difficulties before. Of course a person's previous history, attitudes will change how we assess a subsequent post.

When my manager told me that '!!!!!philes can actually be nice people'. I generally respect peoples right to express their opinions and I'm pretty open minded, but this was one step too far. I don't want to be in the position of having to work with those people. Unfortunately I'm still there. Got an interview tomorrow fingers crossed.

Oh wow, I thought I'd heard some nasty and undesirable stuff when the kids of the call centre got way to close and then the back lash or should I say black mailing when it was regretted though it took just weeks, not years for this to be learnt so guess clearly I'm lucky in many respects. Thanks!
I know all about hearing what you don't want to hear and how it colours the view of someone. Crikey didn't forget that strange gent in earlyish 2015 who I'd started work for making me go home with the usb stick to learn the company system of maybe something else entirely disgusting. Have always expected the fella's in blue to show, just a sick hunch. (for anybody delighting a further dig...)

Good luck, my last interviewer was a total spat from the past who I'd been quite rude to at a previous company, turned out face to face we were both wrong about each other :) I was of course let know on arrival and ended up giving it my best, it was nearly the interview I cancelled, no idea what was waiting. Was glad earlier today when the interview from midst of no mans land before them actually turned out unsuccessful, still hope things happen for a reason.
