Very - Regretful

Options
Hi all.

Just a moan about how awful Very are. They had an offer for £100 credit to your account for an iPhone 7 if ordered on Buy Now Pay Later so I created an account. Unfortunately my credit limit was a little bit short of the phone's cost that I wanted so I started a web chat with CS to see how I could get round this. They said to do the order online, and the site would then ask me to pay the difference. I did this, but that didn't happen and the order got refused.

I then phoned up their CS (first phone call, the phone was put down on me which I've later found out is typical of their CS) and asked if I could do the order over the phone and get the BNPL option and £100. Yes I was told. I just needed to pay the extra first. She took payment and said the £100 credit would have to be done manually as the system wouldn't do it automatically. They took some time to sort it (passing me on to another person randomly half way though the procedure, with her asking how could she help). I again said about the BNPL and £100, stating this was the only reason I was ordering (this was probably about the fourth time I mentioned it). The order came through with no mention of the BNPL on the email so I sent an account query within minutes asking them to confirm the BNPL and £100. The reply stated that as I'd ordered over the phone, the £100 wouldn't apply.

I phoned up that evening to be told that if CS did state that I could get £100 credit, they was wrong. They offered to listen to the phone call the next day and get back to me, but I refused as the phone would be getting delivered in a couple of days so didn't want the hassle if they didn't get back to me on time. Asked them to cancel the order, and I'd also be closing my account. Email arrives at lunch the next day to say the phone had now been despatched. I refused delivery today.

I'm aware I could have stood my ground, got them to listen to the phone call and insisted I have the £100 credit as that was the condition of the sale, but I honestly can't be bothered dealing with such a useless company. Couldn't imagine the type of stress I'd get if the phone had a problem. I'd rather pay full price and buy elsewhere.
There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.

So, they offered to deal with your complaint by listening to the telephone call which, presumably, if it accorded with your account of that conversation, would have resulted in your receiving the £100 credit?

I'd have been inclined to pick my toys up, put them back in the pram and await the result of the investigation if I wanted that £100 credit so badly.

I'd rather not deal with a company thats known for putting down the phone on customers, gives false info on web chats and fails to communicate about specific circumstances on customers accounts. Just for the record, they never got back to me today about the phone call as they promised. If it's this much hassle ordering a phone, can you imagine how difficult it'd be dealing with them if the phone had a fault? Not easy judging by reviews.

I'm sure I'll find a similar deal elsewhere. I'm not that much in a hurry for a new phone, or that desperate to save £100 that I'd deal with such a shoddy outfit. Will stick to my Sony for now.

Sound like they did you a favour.

There will be a new iPhone out in a couple of months and people will be offloading their nearly new iPhone 7's for a lot less than what you'd have paid Very.

Very Crap this company should be renamed to

I too have found their customer service very lacking - returning phone calls and emails within the reasonable amount of time.

Agree with the above. It would take days for them to respond to an online query with just 'It's been sent to the relevant department' so then you'd wait a few more days. But when the matter was finished and I was basically complaining and telling them how crap they were, they responded immediately a few times. Hmmmm

I've found them fine so I completely disagree!

In actual fact, they've saved me tonnes of money.
