Moths in old sofa - throw out or reupholster?

We have a small Victorian chesterfield sofa in our front room - horse hair filling and all. It was last upholstered around 10 years ago - in a dark brown velvet corduroy and looked very nice and it is still very comfortable.
HOWEVER we have got moths in our front room carpet and are about to throw it out. The moths are also living in the chesterfield and are eating their way out. No amount of spraying with moth killer seems to have any impact.
Reluctantly we are thinking we shall have to throw out the chesterfield as well. If we got it completely upholstered and maybe even replaced the horsehair with foam, would that get rid of them? It is a small three seater but maybe it would be cheaper to replace it than re upholster it?

There is some middle ground you might like to have a go at ....
The moths won't be in the wood - if you can't afford to get it reupholstered (and who can!) you can give it a go at DIY.
Stripping off the old stuff and throwing it away's easily done... then you just need a bit of time to read/watch online and buy the stuff you need and a stapling gun... etc.
As they say "what's the worst that could happen?"
You will probably need, though, the spare space to have it loitering around for 1-2 months while you take your time getting the right filling stuff and choosing your fabric .... etc. So it might sit in various stages of construction.
Indeed, you might even wonder sometimes "why did I EVER think this might be a good idea?" - but if you've the space and want it enough, then it's middle ground between getting rid and having it reupholstered at an eye-watering price.0
