My Hudl2 seems to have given up the ghost so I am in the market for a replacement tablet. Needs to be 10" android. I chiefly use it to access the internet, and watch amazon prime, iplayer etc so needs decent battery life and good screen resolution.
Must have an (any size) hdmi port to plug into tv. Looking on line at the specs of possible tablets, none mention an hdmi port. Do not want to pay the earth, ideally not cost more than around £200.
Suggestions?

My father in law had similar requirements and I was very tempted to get him an Amazon kindle Fire HD - good price and very well reviewed. But we ended up getting him an android tablet - and he loves it. I can't remember which one exactly, but it was definitely one of these three - see which one suits your needs and give it a consideration. FYI I'm quite impressed with Kindle Fire Tablets too, though haven't owned one myself (they push the whole amazon brand a lot, but you get a slick machine). Note that amazon OS is a modified android to the best of my knowledge - so there's no google play store, but all the major media consumption apps are there.

and these are amazon's best selling tablets FYI

Please be aware that any 10" tablet with 1280x800 screen, will have an inferior picture to an equivalent 8" tablet: same number of pixels, more screen to fill. I have this: -

- and am very pleased with it. I know a 10" screen sounds great, but do you really need a 10"? The link I gave does not show a HDMI port, but mine does have a Mini HDMI port and I have used it to connect to TV. The link is exactly the same model, and mine did not show a HDMI port when I looked for it. Also. it has Android 6, whereas others have 5.1.I think this job really needs
a much bigger hammer.

My hudl2 died and I also looked for suitable replacement, including HDMI out but was unable to find anything that had everything.
I ended up with an Amazon Fire 10 inch tab. I was not impressed at first, especially with all the Amazon Apps pre-installed and uninstallable, nor with the limitations of the Amazon App Store.
However, you can push all the Amazon Apps into a single folder which at least hides them and releases loads of space on the home screen. And a quick search on YouTube will show you the simple process of installing the Google Play Store app.
Despite lack of HDMI, I am pleased with what I chose. It takes a few days to get fully to grips with the Amazon twist on basic Android but now I am using it without thinking.
Nice bit of kit and well priced for what you get.0 -
I have an Acer 8" tablet with HDMI that has served me well for two years although only occasional use.
Have a look at http://www.argos.co.uk/product/5445725. Full HD as well as mini HDMI out.0 -
Thanks for all the advice, currently checking it out.0
