cheapest place to buy electric sockets/switches

I am renovating the whole house and looking to buy a bulk of sockets and switches. Although I dont want the white basic ones I am not looking to spend money on designer ones. I have been waiting for Screwfix sale (As I have seen them selling the packs of 5 sockets at a discount) but no sign of it yet. Any recommendations please?

Bulk boxes at SF tend to be their in house LAP or BG - they're poor quality.

Brands like MK and Crabtree are my preferred - decide exactly what you want, price it up in screwfix and then approach local trade counters with your requirements and see if they will beat the price. If you're ordering 'boxes' full then you should easily be SF prices.

Trade counters are those such as CEF, Newey, Electribase - far too many to list, do your homework locally.

Screwfix have 5 LAP double sockets for 10.98. How cheap do you want!

Still I'd pay the extra and get MK.

Anything that isn't a DIY supermarket will save you money on bulk buying.

Have you tried ToolStation? They had something I couldn't find anywhere else - bloody Ideal Standard size bathroom fittings.

I really like the look of the MK Logic plus range

The wide screwless rocker(light) switch plates look really good and are nice to use.

The thing about using one of the higher quality brands is they have a range that has just about everything you need so you get the consistent look for all fittings.

Toolstation is very cheap, if you want cheap generic fittings. I fitted a few replacement lightswitches (58p each) and they seem okay quality.

Where's the real money - it's you, your time and labour, the cost of the parts is just noise. You want something good and well made, to make the job easy, easy to fit, decent screws, robust not brittle, right first time.

Toolstation are selling MK switched double sockets for £3.60 each - given that you get 20-30 years of useful life out of them, is it worth going cheaper?

Go for branded products like Crabtree my preference or MK. A property had cheaper sockets fitted and after regular everyday use some just broke. False economy to go cheaper on some things, just end up paying double later on.
